RRPS Automotive Technology

2023-24 Auto Class Schedule Info:

Intro (1st Yr) Auto Students taking Auto 1 (1st sem) and Auto 2 (2nd sem)

  • CHS 1st Year Auto classes occur during the 4th & 5th-period block

  • RRHS 1st Year Auto classes occur during the 6th & 7th-period block

  • Intro Students must utilize the district-provided bus transportation

  • Classes are held at the RRPS Bus Depot (821 Moccasin Dr. NE)

Advanced (2nd Yr) Auto Students taking Auto 3 (1st sem) and Auto 4 (2nd sem)

  • These classes occur during the 2nd & 3rd-period block for students from both CHS & RRHS

  • Advanced Auto Students must provide their own transportation

  • Classes are held at

    RRPS Bus Depot (821 Moccasin Dr. NE)

After School Automotive Classes

  • Both Intro and Advanced Auto classes are offered during this time.

  • Open to Independence HS and Cyber HS Students

  • Open to CHS and RRHS Students who could not fit the Auto classes during the day into their schedule

  • Offered at RRPS Bus Depot (821 Moccasin Dr. NE)

  • Classes are offered Monday - Friday 2:40 - 4:00 PM

Pathway Overview

The RRPS Automotive program was established in Spring 2020. For the 2023-24 SY, it is being held at the RRPS Transportation Depot at 821 Moccasin Dr. NE in Rio Rancho 87124 (just south of Northern Blvd.)

It is accessible to qualifying 10th, 11th, & 12th-grade students at Rio Rancho HS, Cleveland HS, Independence HS, and Cyber Academy HS.

This pathway begins preparing students for an exciting career in Transportation and Automotive Technology. Transportation and Auto Tech is a critical industry that keeps our economy, people, and products moving.

Course Sequence

Classes are double blocked (each class is 2 periods) so students will receive one full credit per semester for each class.

  • Intro: Auto 1 (A & B) - Introduction to Transportation (Semester 1)

  • Concentrator: Auto 2 (A & B) - Undercar Skills (Semester 2)

  • Concentrator: Auto 3 (A & B) - Electrical Systems and Engine Tune-Up (Semester 3)

  • Capstone: Auto 4 (A & B) - Topics In Automotive & Diesel Technology. Emerging Technologies and Alternative Fuel Sources (Sem 4)
